Our team of architects, engineers and design professionals at Bay Area Builders is strong and diverse, with a focus on developing long-term relationships with our clients. The company has been active in the design and construction industry for over thirty years. Our areas of expertise include high-tech, aerospace, semiconductor, science and technology, biotech, private education, office, university and healthcare markets.
The collaborative and integrated design process we offer provides full-service support, from programming through the end of construction administration. With extensive experience and the ability to approach projects using design-build, fast-track or traditional design-bid-build methods, we ensure flexibility and efficiency in our solutions. We employ design techniques geared towards reducing the overall embodied energy and environmental footprint, while balancing and meeting the challenges of the dynamic market and regulations.
Licensed in California, Colorado, Arizona, Idaho, and Nevada, our team also includes LEED Accredited Professionals specializing in Building Design and Construction. Additionally, we are involved in AIA, NCARB, USGBC and ICC along with mentorship and professional development. We work hard, play hard and maintain an emphasis on quality while meeting the needs, schedule and budget of our clients.
Michael P. Harris has been active in the Construction and Design Industry for almost 30 years. Mike’s expertise includes architectural design for the high-tech, aerospace, semiconductor, science and technology, university, Class A office and pharmaceutical markets. He has worked on specialized high-tech testing facilities, data centers, university research labs, biotech labs, sensitive compartmented information facilities (SCIF), clean rooms and fabrication facilities. Mike is a licensed Architect and has led project teams for many complex projects, meeting our clients’ needs and maintaining life safety. He has performed programming, conceptual design including code analysis, research, accessibility applications, hazardous materials (hazmat) compliance, construction documents, construction administration, project closeout and city/agency coordination/permitting. As a LEED AP, Mike has also managed many of the firm’s projects that emphasize sustainable building design, defining and executing sustainability goals including energy and water efficiency, as well as green building materials. Mike created and is the lead of our Design Group.

Joseph Fitch has been involved in the design and construction of electrical systems for industrial, aerospace, biomedical, and semiconductor facilities for the past 30 years. Prior to that, he was involved in the design and construction of medium-voltage electrical distribution systems for Southern California Edison. Joe’s technical background, along with his work in the construction field, makes him an asset to our clients. He is well-versed in all aspects of electrical system design including substations, power distribution, lighting, access systems, energy management, medium-voltage distribution, generators, emergency back-up systems, and uninterruptible power supplies. Along with design, Joe has performed many coordination, short circuit, load flow, and arc flash studies. His background in working with people and his drive to meet any challenge presented to him assures that he will provide clients with a complete, comprehensive, and constructible design.
